Music Video Inspirtation

Me and Millie have been putting our music video ideas together this week by doing a storyboard. It consists of every little detail which will appear in our video such as miss en scene, directing, actors/ actress' and dancers. Whilst Millie put the ending of the storyboard together, we came to a standstill during the bridging of our song. As there is no lyrics in this part, we struggled to think of an idea. We began to research dancing scenario's to come to a conclusion of what to do. This is what we found during our research:

We came across a short dancing scene in the film E.T. (See 1:15) Although this sounds unusual, we enjoyed the idea. The dancing scene is very dramatic and contemporary, which supported our pitch and overall idea. As this is from an old film, we are going to modernise it. The dancing reinforces our plot of a difficult relationship through its dramatic actions.

We then researched the film 'Dirty Dancing', one of the most well known dancing films, for ideas. Although this is not the style of dancing we were looking for, we enjoyed aspects from it such as the dramatic elements and lifting actions (see 3:20).

I then researched into TV shows to see if I could come across other dancing scenarios. Although I could not find anymore, I came across another element we could use in our music video:

The fast jump cut's appealed to me. As our song has fast drumming within it, the idea fit perfectly. The jump cut's consist of the characters moving to different places quickly, which will be reinforced in our video (see 0:05).

Our research has helped develop or music video ideas in a positive and effective way. The ideas help portray the lyrics, beat and plot of our song.
